[edit] Holiday destination

Lake Conjola is a popular tourist destination with three caravan parks with cabins, caravan areas, tent areas and water fronts available. There are also numerous holiday houses located in the area.

[edit] Water sports

The lake is a popular fishing and water sports location, with boat ramps located at the eastern and western areas of the Lake. Bream, whiting, tailor, flat-head, black fish and large jewfish have been caught in the Lake.

The entrance of the Lake is often subject to strong currents at the turn of the tide. During the summer months it is a regular occurrence to see groups of people and individuals riding the currents both ways (depending upon the tide) with the assistance of body boards or by simply floating.

Killarnie is a popular spot for families and water skiers, it consists of a large sandy beach and picnic areas. It is located on private property however access is available to the public for a small fee. Spear fishing is prohibited in the waters of Conjola Lake.

[edit] Bush walking

There are many bush walking tracks leading through the National and State Parks which surround the area. A scenic board walk can be accessed near the south side of the lakes entrance. The board walk leads to a viewing platform which provides views across Green Island and along the coastline. Native Australian animals including kangaroos, possums and large bird populations can be observed within the Conjola area.


At the mouth of Lake Conjola there is a Little Tern nesting colony.It is the largest colony on the south coast.On the mudflats there are summer migrants including Eastern Curlew, Whimbrel and Bar Tailed Godwit. Residents include Red Capped Plovers, Crested and Caspien Terns and Pied Oystercatchers.

A volunteer fire station and a pony club is located at the eastern side of the town. There is also bowling club, two small stores (one of which also functions as a Post Office), tennis courts and a fishing club.
